I was a person with a disability
I had a bad heart from the time I was born and was hospitalized immediately after giving birth.
The length of hospital stay is 1 year and 5 months. During that time, I had two major surgeries.
I don’t remember at all,
At that time, my family and relatives went back and forth between hospitals in Tokyo and Shizuoka.
It seems that he had a very difficult hospitalization life.
Two surgeries were successful and the condition was stable,
Thanks to you, there was no particular modulation or disability after discharge,
As I grew up, various restrictions were lifted.
On the other hand, a person who had the same illness as me and had surgery at the same time died.
When I was a teenager, my parents told me that I had a severe disability.
At that time, I was young
“I wish I could connect this saved life to something useful to people.”
As I came to think
There were always keywords “medical care” and “welfare” in the corner of my head.
Thoughts on family business and dreams in 20s
Our company was founded in 1964 by my grandfather.
For more than 50 years since then, I have been operating in Makinohara City, Shizuoka Prefecture as a car shop (motors) in the city.
When I was a student, my father was a mechanic and he was in charge of the company.
Growing up after seeing such a father, I also wanted to work in the automobile industry.
And if his dad has the job of repairing a car, he wants to do the job of making a car!
I aimed to go on to university, saying, “I want to become an engineer and build a next-generation car!”
However, a big “frustration” and “misunderstanding” were waiting.
At that time, I thought that making a car was “mechanical engineering”, so
I took an examination at a certain national university and Osaka Prefecture University’s mechanical engineering department.
However, both results failed.
The only one that passed was the Department of Applied Chemistry, which was the second choice at Osaka Prefecture University.
It wasn’t the “mechanical engineering” I was aiming for,
I reluctantly enrolled in school because I didn’t want to be a ronin.
However, after about half a year, I lost sight of the purpose of going on to university without finding a reason for majoring in applied chemistry.
I had a frustrated feeling when I went to college, but after a while I realized that there was something.
“Fuel cell vehicle” “Electric vehicle”
In the field of applied chemistry, which he has advanced to, research on fuel cells and next-generation batteries will become more active, and the time will come when they will be applied to automobiles.
It was just around 2000.
When I entered university, I felt frustrated when I entered applied chemistry, but it was a big mistake.
After going on to school, I learned that “chemistry” is the key to future automobile development.
The road that I thought was a failure was the road to success when I looked back.
After that, I majored in research on “fuel cells” and went on to graduate school. I also got a job at a chemical manufacturer and became a fuel cell development engineer.
I still vividly remember that the project I was involved in as a next-generation fuel cell vehicle was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show at that time.
Decided to return to the family business in his 30s
Our founding grandfather died when I was 30 years old.
Immediately after that, the project I had been working on for a long time as a development engineer was successful.
At this time, I was quite confused as to whether I would continue to work as an engineer or return to the family business at the turning point of 30 years old.
As an engineer, I was just beginning to see the path I was aiming for in the future, so even if I continued as it was, it would probably have been a safe office worker life.
I decided to take over the family business because I thought that I had a family business to return to.
It was 2014.
However, the automobile maintenance industry at that time was already fiercely competitive due to the rapid increase in vehicle inspections and cheap sales, and motors such as the family business were declining.
However, in order to succeed the family business, you have to open a business and get a job.
As a sales training, I first started sales of non-life insurance such as automobile insurance.
Until now, I’ve been doing only introverted work as an engineer, so I had a lot of trouble with the external work of sales.
Of course, there is no result at the beginning.
There were days when I regretted leaving the engineer.
Many people asked me why I quit a major manufacturer and started a car shop.
Still, since I decided to do it, I did it thoroughly.
There were 200 TEL appointments a day, and the diving business continued without a break.
Thanks to you, one year later, the annual insurance premium sales exceeded 10 million yen, and we were able to achieve the top results in the prefecture.
While continuing to operate, I was also thinking about the future direction of the company.
In a talk at a business location, I heard that you are having trouble with the welfare vehicle used to pick up and drop off facilities for the elderly.
The moment when the thought that if we could solve this problem would be a business opportunity and the “welfare” that I had in mind when I was young,
I decided to start a business of welfare vehicles.
In 2015, we started a repair business for welfare vehicles used in nursing care facilities.
Thankfully, this welfare vehicle repair business has been well received by many nursing care facilities.
I was able to rebuild my leaning family business.
Evolution to a welfare vehicle specialty store
While advancing the welfare vehicle repair business for the elderly
This time, I want to focus on people with disabilities, which is my starting point.
In 2017, we started remodeling a welfare vehicle that allows people with disabilities to move freely.
A manual driving device that can be operated by “hands” for people with disabilities can be installed.
You can install a rotating lift seat to make it easier to get on and off to get in your favorite car,
I think we were able to bring the joy of driving and the joy of riding in your favorite car to many people.
Then, in 2020, we received requests from many people and started selling welfare vehicles.
Since we are not a dealer, it is difficult to line up a lot of new cars,
Because we are not a dealer, we can handle cars from any car manufacturer.
You can choose from a wide variety of welfare vehicles, and we can support our customers with the knowledge about welfare vehicles and long-term care that we have cultivated so far.
In addition, you can choose to purchase a welfare vehicle or modify your car to make it a welfare vehicle.
We were able to create such an ideal “welfare vehicle specialty store”.
